SOFTSWISS participated in ICE Barcelona 2025, the first edition of the iGaming industry’s largest trade fair held in Barcelona, from January 20-22. The event marked the relocation of ICE from London and coincided with Spain’s growing presence in the global gaming industry. In 2024, the IMF named Spain the “best-performing economy,” and its Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) reached €1.24 billion in 2023, supporting its selection as the event’s new host country.
At the trade fair, SOFTSWISS showcased its Game Aggregator, which features a portfolio of over 27,800 games from more than 280 providers. The platform is certified in markets including Brazil, Peru, and Spain, ensuring compliance with local regulations and providing effortless integration for operators.
The company also introduced a new marketing campaign, “Hungry for Success? Dive in with SOFTSWISS,” symbolised by a shark to represent leadership and technological innovation. Visitors to the SOFTSWISS booth observed a live performance by Slim Safont, a local artist, who collaborated with attendees to create a large-scale shark mural. SOFTSWISS also highlighted its plans to build stronger partnerships in key regulated markets, focusing on compliance and technology-driven solutions.
SOFTSWISS further demonstrated its strategic focus on global expansion through a masterclass led by Chief Commercial Officer Max Trafimovich. The session explored opportunities in the UAE market, addressing regulatory requirements and market entry strategies.
The company’s presence at ICE Barcelona 2025 reflected its emphasis on innovation, market expansion, and compliance with changing industry standards.
Ontario iGaming Handle Reaches $22.7 Billion in Q3 of 2024-25 Fiscal Year
Ontario’s iGaming market saw substantial growth in the third quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year, with wagers totalling $22.7 billion, according to iGaming Ontario’s latest performance report. This figure, which excludes promotional wagers, represents a 22% increase over the previous quarter and a 32% rise year-over-year. Gaming revenue for the quarter reached $825.8 million, a 25% increase compared to the same period last year. This revenue includes wagers, rake fees, tournament fees, and other operator fees across all platforms.
Casino games, including slots, live and online table games, and peer-to-peer bingo, dominated the market. They accounted for $18.9 billion (83%) of wagers and $644 million (78%) of total revenue. Betting on sports, esports, proposition bets, novelty bets, and exchange betting generated $3.4 billion (15%) in wagers and $166 million (20%) in revenue. Peer-to-peer poker made up $418 million (1.8%) of wagers and $16 million (1.9%) of revenue. During this period, 50 operators managed 83 gaming websites, reflecting the growing diversity and competitiveness in Ontario’s regulated market.
The monthly data for December 2024 highlighted additional trends in the iGaming space. Wagers for the month totalled $7.8 billion, a 5% increase from November. Online casino games led the activity, generating $6.5 billion in wagers, a 7% month-over-month increase. Sports betting wagers reached $1.1 billion, reflecting a 4% decline, while peer-to-peer poker wagers grew by 4% to $141 million. Despite higher overall wagering activity, December revenue dropped 7% compared to November, totalling $269 million. Online casino revenue rose by 8% to $224 million, while sports betting revenue dropped 50% to $39 million. Poker revenue increased by 10%, reaching $5.6 million.
These results underscore the sustained growth of Ontario’s iGaming market, with casino games continuing to drive the majority of wagering and revenue. As the province’s regulatory framework matures, the sector demonstrates its potential for further expansion, fueled by increased player engagement and a competitive operator market.
